How do I go about setting up a new account with Gulf Coast Occupational Medicine?
Setting up a new account is easy and takes minutes to do! Simply email us at info@gulfcoastoccmed.com or call our main office at (225) 753-7233 and ask to speak to a new client representative. After getting some general information about you and your company, we will email or fax you a copy of our registration packet to complete. Please note that you can begin sending employees in immediately after we receive your general information; they do not have to wait until after the registration packet is completed.
Billing
How can I receive my invoices?
When setting up a new account with Gulf Coast, you will be given a choice as to how you would like to receive your invoices — either individually for each employee or one lump monthly statement. Either way, your invoices can be mailed or emailed to you, whichever is more convenient for you.
What are the different methods of payment?
We accept all major credit cards, cash, or company checks.

How do I set up an onsite visit?
Let Gulf Coast help your company with convenience of onsite visits. Simply contact our main clinic at (225) 753-7233. We will collect some information from you regarding time ⁄ date, location, tests to be done, etc. We will check our calendar to make sure the date is feasible — in many cases, same-day visits are possible. The entire process should take minutes to do.
What if I need an employee to be seen after your normal operating hours or on the weekend?
For your convenience, Gulf Coast does offer access to any of our services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, all year long! By contacting our main clinic at (225) 753-7233 after we have closed, you will be directed to our after-hours phone. The Gulf Coast representative will then arrange for a technician or medical care provider to meet you at a Gulf Coast clinic as soon as possible. Again, this after hour benefit is available for any of the services we offer, including injuries, drug screens, and alcohol testing. Need be, we can even send technicians to emergencies room to drug screen employees who have been seriously injured.
Is Gulf Coast closed for lunch?
No, we are not closed for lunch. Gulf Coast has an adequate amount of employees to take on even the busiest of lunch crowds, so feel free to send your employees at whatever time is most convenient for you.

Is there a doctor at every location?
Gulf Coast currently offers professional medical care providers at all of our clinics.
Do I need an appointment to see the doctor?
No appointment is needed at any time.

Does Gulf Coast offer flu shots?
Yes! When flu season hits, Gulf Coast is your go-to clinic! We offer top-of-the-line vaccines at a low cost to you and your company. Also, you can take advantage of our onsite service — let us come to you!
What are “Instant Check” drug screens?
Instant check drug screens, or instachecks, are drug screens where your company can get immediate results on negative findings. Instachecks are done in-house and take minutes to perform. They do not need to be sent off to a lab unless the instacheck confirms for a drug ⁄ medication. Gulf Coast offer a wide array of instacheck drug screens. We have your basic 5 and 6 panel drug screens which cover illegal drugs (i.e. marijuana, cocaine) as well as more extensive 9, 10, and 12 panel drug screens which also include prescription medications (i.e. codeine, benzodiazepines). Contact us to find out which drug screen best suits your company!
Is there an extra charge to receive Instant Check results the same day they are taken?
All results from Gulf Coast are reported as they are received. There are no additional fees for receiving same-day results for instant check drug screens.
What SAMHSA certified labs does Gulf Coast use?
Currently, we use Alere and Quest Diagnostics as our SAMHSA-certified laboratories.
Test Result Questions
What are the different options for receiving my employee’s results?
We can mail, email, or fax all results to you, whichever is more convenient.
How long does it take to get the results back for a drug screen?
This varies on the type of drug screen that is performed and on the results. Negative instacheck readings will be reported the day of the drug screen. Negative send-off drug screens will be available the next business day. All confirmations usually take about 3 to 5 business days. Regardless of the situation, when we receive a result, you receive the result!

What masks do you offer for fit tests?
Gulf Coast offers an array of masks that are most popular in the industrial field all in several sizes. If we don’t have the mask that your company needs, let us know and we will get it!
How long is a DOT physical valid for?
For the most part, a DOT physical is valid usually for 2 years. Some medical conditions can shorten this period to a year or less.
